All parts need to be sung with an open pure
voice.

The original Edward Elgar composition was for
SATB. We will be performing it SAB. The
Bass part will be played on (hopefully) a cello.
·
Attention Baritones: No voices will be singing
Bass!
·
Tempo will be performed rubato.

The Defining Moment

All parts need to be sung upbeat and energetic. Tempo
will be about 163.
·
Attention Sopranos: Page 12 & 13 is written
SSAB. Both soprano parts take turns at being higher. Please familiarize
yourself with both parts. You will be divided depending on where you stand on
the risers.
·
Call for a soloist: Page 14-15 One soprano or
alto (who can sing in soprano range) or a small group of matching voices that
can sing upbeat and energetic to complement the style of song.

Pineywood Mountain

All parts need to be sung brightly and
enunciated!
·
Attention Baritones: Pages 9-11 the baritone
part is split. The melody is the higher part. Assuming the melody can still be
heard, “some” guys can take the lower notes to create harmony.

Attention Sopranos: Measure 61 & 62 sopranos
sing notes with stems up.

Attention Altos: Measure 61 & 62 altos sing stems down
notes.
·
Call for Soloists: There is a baritone solo at
the beginning sung by the King (or Queen) of England. This solo can be adapted for a female voice by
taking it up an octave and changing the last word.
