A key component to the Bolton Central School District experience is striving for academic excellence and remarkable experiences in a supportive community, which will exceed all expectations. Providing opportunities that endorse standards of excellence helps our students consider their options for the future.
This fall BCS high school students enrolled in Business Marketing, Food & Nutrition, Introduction to Public Health and Hospitality and Tourism classes attended a field trip to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. The students learned about the history and significance of the Culinary Institute of America, gaining an understanding of its role in culinary education. Students took part in a guided flavor tasting, exploring diverse ingredients and culinary techniques and took a comprehensive tour of the institute's state-of-the-art facilities which provided students with a glimpse into the professional culinary environment. Our students enjoyed the hands-on experiences and appreciated the opportunity to explore potential career paths within the culinary industry. The trip to the Culinary Institute of America highlighted the connections between culinary arts, marketing, public policy, and hospitality, demonstrating real-world applications of classroom learning, setting the stage for further exploration and learning in their respective disciplines.
As stated by Craig Claiborne, celebrated author and food critic for The New York Times, “almost every profession has an outstanding training ground. The military has West Point, music has Juilliard, and culinary arts has the Culinary Institute.”
Being able to provide BCS students the opportunity to see the innovators and experts in action is the best endorsement to strive for professional and personal success. As a rural school district, Bolton Central is honored to be the first stepping stone for our students.
