The Bolton Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce its appointment of Cameron Mazza as PK – 12 Building Principal at the regular meeting of the Board on November 18, 2024. Ms. Mazza will begin her duties on January 1, 2025.
“The process to find and appoint a new Principal has been very thorough,” said Bolton Central School Superintendent, Chad Shippee. “Ms. Mazza is a perfect match for the qualities we were seeking for our next Principal. Through this process, the committees were impressed with her organization, student-centered approach, experience with many different parts of education, views on accountability, and eagerness to support the whole school community.”
Ms. Mazza was appointed as Assistant Principal in the Glens Falls Middle School July 1, 2023. Prior to that, since 2015, she had worked for Glens Fall City School in Jackson Heights Elementary as the School Social Worker, an experience that has enriched her administrative perspective, particularly in supporting the whole child and building strong relationships with school community that promotes positive school experiences and success. Mr. Shippee stated, “Ms. Mazza’s background as an Assistant Principal and as a social worker will serve her well as a PreK-12 Principal at Bolton Central School. She brings with her experiences in many different areas and facets of public education that makes her well rounded and prepared to work positively with our students and staff to meet the needs of all learners”.
Ms. Mazza received her Bachelor’s degree at Clarkson University, her Master’s in both Educational Psychology and Social Work at the University of Albany, and her School Building Leader Certification from The College of Saint Rose.
The position was advertised extensively throughout the state following Mr. Shippee’s appointment to the Superintendent role, leaving the PreK-12 Principalship vacant. An initial group of 24 submissions presented down to two finalists who ultimately interviewed with the Board of Education. Five committees of various stakeholder groups including teachers, non-instructional staff, students, parents, administration, and the Board of Education, consisting of 28 individuals, were involved in the very thorough hiring process.
Ms. Mazza shared, “I am both honored and incredibly excited to join the Bolton Central School District as Principal. The district's reputation for academic excellence and strong community engagement is well-known throughout our region. My vision is to foster an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
