Recently our 6th graders worked on a bookmaking project in collaboration with our artist in residence, Mrs. Paula Krieg. Mrs. Krieg spent time at the school working with students primarily during library time. This project came about by Ms. Kelley suggesting the idea of the students making a folder/journal to use in conjunction with their language arts class. The project that lent itself most easily was a folded enclosure design by Hedi Kyle, featured on page 117 of her book Art of the Fold. Every year the students look forward to her visit. Many of the students have made books with Mrs. Krieg since they were in Pre K. It is a fantastic experience for the students and the District is very fortunate to have this ongoing partnership with Mrs. Krieg.
