Bolton Central School was happy to have members from Whitbeck Construction meet with our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students as part of a Northeast Construction Trades Workforce Coalition initiative. The in-school dodecahedron build was an interactive, hands-on activity that involved economics, teamwork, time management, and working through assembly techniques. A dodecahedron is a three-dimensional shape with 12 pentagonal faces. The faces are flat and meet at 20 vertices, with three faces meeting at each vertex. At the end of the activity, each team had their dodecahedron tested to see how much weight it could hold. One student created dodecahedron held over 200 pounds! The project required constant participation and teamwork in each group to ensure a successful build. This was a fun and informative activity for our students!
