Women in Trades Day is Hands-On, and Empowering!

Recently our WSWHE BOCES welcomed our students to the F. Donald Myers Education Center for Women in Trades Day. The afternoon was designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and open doors through Career & Technical Education.

Throughout the event, students heard directly from female industry professionals, CTE alumni, and current CTE students who shared their experiences and the many routes available in the skilled trades.

Following a panel discussion and guest speakers, students took part in hands-on learning experiences led by our CTE staff. They explored programs and fields that have traditionally been male-dominated, including Automotive Technology, Auto Body Repair, HVAC, Heavy Equipment Operations, Welding, Construction Trades, and Environmental Conservation—gaining insight into the skills, training, and opportunities these careers offer.

As women continue to help fill critical workforce needs while building successful, high-wage careers, experiences like Women in Trades Day remind students that CTE is hands-on, and empowering. Thank you to WSWHE BOCES for providing this opportunity to our students.
