BCS Odyssey of the Mind Team Heads to State Competition
Posted on 03/16/2023

This Odyssey of the Mind team of middle-grade students has been working hard since this September to create a skit based on the Trojan horse theme, with a neat twist. The group wrote the script, using creativity to surmount an obstacle while meeting rigorous requirements set by the organization.

Odyssey of the Mind started as a creative industrial design assignment over forty years ago. Today students are judged on their ability to work together, the level of strategy involved in solving a problem, how they accomplish the goals of the problem, and their overall performance!

This truly dedicated and creative group took first place at the WSWHE BOCES regional competition on Saturday, March 11.  They also won the Omer Award for exceptional creativity, teamwork and the courage to go way outside their comfort zone. Congratulations and congratulations to Lydia Phelps, Lillian Millington (the statue), Austin Bliss (the panda), Jaden Nieves, Ryan Biers, and Carter and Tucker Smith!  These students will compete at the State Tournament in Syracuse on Saturday, April 15th.  Good luck team!
