Recently, Bolton Central School kicked off this year’s session of the peer-mentoring program with a team building session at Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg. The activities are designed to engage students through activities set-up to increase their ability to work with their peers and boost their self-confidence. Mentors include 12th grade student volunteers who will pair up this school year with groups of middle school aged mentees.
The 12th grade mentors will work with their mentees twice a month in a supervised group setting led by School Psychologist, Mrs. Terry Begly. During each mentoring session, the students will participate in three activities that focus on a variety of developmental assets including building self-esteem and confidence, improving grades, study skills and academic achievement, setting achievable goals, respecting individual differences, and working cooperatively to resolve conflict.
