We all know that practice is a great way to learn. Working together, BCS faculty and staff came up with a creative way for our students to get a bit more practice with their math skills, change up their routine and make Fridays that much more fun!
The plan is to provide our students with a coffee cart that they will be in charge of (supervised by a teacher) to sell coffee/hot cocoa and baked goods to teachers and staff on Friday mornings. The idea is to review identifying currency, counting, and making change which helps with math and is also a valuable life skill. This exercise will also help with budgeting, communication and customer service skills. Of course, any extra interactions with our students contributes to the positive culture here at Bolton Central School- the name of this new endeavor will be, “Eagle Express!”
The proceeds will be going towards items for the cart and a donation to an organization of the students’ choice.
Thank you to our staff for coming up with new and interesting ways to help our students learn the skills they need.
