District Overview
The community of the Bolton Central School District supports a public school system for its children in grades PK-12. The Bolton Central School was centralized in 1927 and houses all grade levels in one building, right in the center of town at 26 Horicon Avenue.
Bolton ranks first in Financial Responsibility to taxpayers amongst 86 school districts in the Greater Capital Region according to the June, 2010 edition of the Capital District Business Review. In that same publication BCS ranked 9 out of the same 86 districts in overall academic performance and efficiency. We are proud of our high ranking and to be grouped with our neighboring most highly acclaimed and respected institutions.
Thanks to the efforts of our talented and dedicated staff, strong support from the Board of Education, involved parents and a community that values education, Bolton students benefit from a rich and varied curriculum. Our Vision is to:
- Use our smaller size to maximize learning opportunities
- Hold our students to high academic and social standards
- Improve student learning through creative and contemporary teaching practices and methods
- Address the individual learning needs of all students
- Communicate with community members and foster community partnerships
