STUDENT DRESS CODE
A student's dress must follow but is not limited to the following expectations:
* Clothing must cover undergarments. Waistbands and bra straps are excluded.
* Private areas (genitalia, nipples, and buttocks) are to be covered at all times. The fabric covering these areas must not be see-through.
* Hats and hoods are permitted, so long as they do not obstruct a student’s face from view and at the discretion of the classroom teacher.
* Sunglasses are not permitted inside the school building unless prescribed by a physician.
* All student attire, regardless of gender, must include a top and a bottom (or dress) as well as a form of footwear. Chest and stomach are to be mostly covered.
Non-allowable dress:
* Clothing may not depict pornography, nudity, or sexual acts.
* Clothing may not depict or promote violence or weapons.
* Clothing may not use or depict hate speech targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliations, or any other protected groups under the Dignity for All Students Act.
* Clothing may not depict, advertise, or advocate the use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine products, marijuana, or other drugs.
* Clothing must not threaten the health or safety of any student or staff.
Ultimately it is the responsibility of students and parents to ensure that students are dressed appropriately for school and adhere to the code outlined above. Staff will aim to have a private, respectful conversation with a student about a possible dress code infraction before turning to disciplinary action. Student cooperation in rectifying any infraction is appreciated and expected. Refusal to comply with or blatant disregard of the dress code may result in disciplinary action as determined by the school Principal.
